Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
